Despite unions’ prolonged hatred of Scott Walker, the new governor is moving to deal with equally the signs or symptoms with the condition and the sickness itself-the public-sector union scheme that has molested Wisconsin’s taxpayers and their little ones by gaming the procedure. Making Money Now
Though O’Donnell laudably tried to emphasis the audience’s awareness onand hopefully previous, Charlie Sheen trainwreck interview, courtesy of the tragic undertow that threatens to pull Sheen beneath for very good, I was overtaken, not from the pulling on the thread, along with the voracious audience he serves. It did not make me depressing, it created me angry.
In regards to celebrities, we can be a heartless nation, basking in their misfortunes like nude sunbathers at Schadenfreude Seashore. The impulse is understandable, to some diploma. It can be grating to listen to complaints from persons who enjoy privileges that most of us can not even visualize. For those who cannot muster up some compassion for Charlie Sheen, who makes more capital for any day’s get the job done than most of us will make within a decade’s time, I guess I can’t blame you.
With all the fast pace of events on the internet plus the data revolution sparked through the World-wide-web, it’s extremely simple and easy for the engineering industry to suppose it’s distinct: continually breaking new ground and engaging in important things that nobody has ever before finished ahead of.
But there are other types of business enterprise that have already undergone a few of the identical radical shifts, and also have just as terrific a stake from the long run.
Take healthcare, for example.
We regularly suppose of it as being a enormous, lumbering beast, but in truth, medication has undergone a sequence of revolutions during the previous 200 a long time that happen to be at the very least equal to all those we see in technological know-how and facts.
Less understandable, but even now within just the norms of human nature, could be the impulse to rubberneck, to slow down and have a look at the carnage of Charlie spectacle of Sheen’s unraveling, but for the blithe interviewer Sheen’s existence as we pass it with the best lane of our daily lives. To be truthful, it might be difficult for customers to discern the big difference amongst a run-of-the-mill interest whore, and an honest-to-goodness, circling the drain tragedy-to-be. On its own merits, a quote like “I Am On the Drug. It’s Named Charlie Sheen” is sheer genius, and we can not all be expected to consider the complete measure of someone’s everyday living each and every time we hear a little something amusing.
Fast forward to 2011 and I'm trying to check out would mean of becoming a bit more business-like about my hobbies (largely songs). From the conclude of January I had manned up and commenced to advertise my weblogs. I had designed a lot of numerous blogs, which were contributed to by acquaintances and colleagues. I promoted these pursuits thru Facebook and Twitter.
Second: the small abomination the Gang of Five about the Supream Court gave us a yr or so ago (Citizens Inebriated) truly incorporates just a little bouncing betty of its own that could incredibly effectively go off inside faces of Govs Wanker, Sacitch, Krysty, and J.O. Daniels. As this ruling extended the concept of “personhood” to the two firms and unions, to look at to deny them any proper to operate inside of the legal framework that they have been organized underneath deprives these “persons” from the freedoms of speech, association and movement. Which suggests (the moment again, quoting law college educated family) that either the courts really need to uphold these rights for the unions (as individual “persons” as guaranteed from the Federal (and most state) constitutions, or they have to declare that these attempts at stripping or limiting union rights ought to apply to serious corporations, also.
It’s nearing two weeks since unions and their cohorts on the Left have thrown a nationwide fit over Scott Walker’s solution to what is ailing Wisconsin. Unions and Democrats have made Wisconsin their cause célèbre by deploying OFA astroturf, the big talking heads, as well as recruiting just about every known Grateful Dead concert attendee on their mailing lists into Wisconsin. Meanwhile, Democratic state senators (now humorously known as fleebaggers) comically continue to hold the state hostage over an issue of union power, politics and money—nothing more and nothing less.
Despite unions’ long hatred of Scott Walker, the new governor is moving to address both the symptoms of the disease and the disease itself—the public-sector union scheme that has molested Wisconsin’s taxpayers and their children by gaming the system. Unions like Wisconsin’s teachers’ union [WEAC] (which was Wisconsin’s biggest-spending lobby in 2009) have been extraordinarily adept at fixing the system through spending millions to elect politicians who, in turn, reward the unions at the expense of the taxpayers.
Now, in response to Walker’s proposals, the Left has gone overboard in their attempt to protect their stranglehold on Wisconsin taxpayers. Even though unions have made clear that their fight is not about their wages or benefits (they’ve offered concessions), they’ve made the fight all about their “right to be unionized” and the fictitious right to “collective bargaining”—which makes their cause even more despotic.
In making Madison into something reminiscent of the spectacle of the 1960s, unions, Democrats and their liberal cohorts are attempting to make the Wisconsin union battle into a civil rights battle, when it is not. In fact, the Wisconsin fight, when compared to private-sector negotiations is about: 1) the Scope of Bargaining, 2) Union “Income” Security [Right-to-Work vs. Forced Dues], 3) whether Wisconsin should be the unions’ dues collection agency [payroll deduction of dues], and 4) whether public-sector unions should be ‘recertified’ by holding elections every year.
Contrary to the Left’s hyperbole, Scott Walker’s proposals do nothing to eliminate public-sector workers’ right to association, assemblage, or to petition their government. Even pretending that it is a “rights” issue is a mistake. There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that requires a government to engage in a back and forth negotiation with a collective of workers. In a poignant piece entitled There is No Right to Collective Bargaining, Public Service Research Foundation President David Denholm summarizes the problem with the unions’ argument, stating:
A law granting public-sector unions monopoly bargaining privileges gives a union, a special interest group, two bites at the apple. First, it uses its political clout to elect public officials. Then it negotiates with the very same officials.
When you consider that between 70 and 80 percent of all local government expenditures are personnel costs, you begin to get an idea of the magnitude of the power such laws give unions.
Not only is there no right to collective bargaining in public employment, it is wrong. Collective bargaining distorts and corrupts democratic government.
Collective bargaining is a process for employer-employee relations that was designed for the private sector. This process served as the model for the development of public-sector collective bargaining without taking into account the fundamental differences between the two sectors.
As Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour explains:
“When they have collective bargaining in Wisconsin, on one side of the table there’s state employee unions or the local employee unions. On the other side of the table are politicians that they paid for the election of those politicians,” Barbour said. “Now, who represents the taxpayers in that negotiation? Well, actually, nobody.”
Even Newsweek’s Evan Thomas noted on Sunday [via Newsbusters]:
The Democrats really depend on these public employee unions in a lot of states for their support and for their political muscle, and public employee unions got a problem here. I want to distinguish between unions and public employee unions. Unions obviously are critical, but in the public sector, public employee unions have a pretty easy time getting a lot of benefits because nobody’s really pushing back all that hard.
Admittedly, Walker’s proposals are a threat to unions in several ways. As Walker’s proposals determine:
- The extent of what unions will be allowed to bargain about. Walker’s proposal limits bargaining to wages only, effectively eliminating the WEA Trust monopoly which gets its money from local school boards and runs it through a union-run insurance company.
- Whether unions can have workers fired for not paying union dues. According to its most recent financial record on file, WEAC (the teachers’ union) raked in over $25 million in 2009. Walker’s proposal makes paying union dues voluntary, as opposed to mandatory. This goes to the lifeblood of any union. If, for example, 20% of those teachers who are currently required to pay union dues as a condition of employment opt out, WEAC could lose up to $5 million a year in revenue. [It is noteworthy that, in the private-sector, the SEIU will be conducting its second strike at a Pennsylvania medical center over the issue of mandatory dues.]
- Whether the state will continue being the unions’ dues collector. Walker’s proposal eliminates’ the employers’ payroll deduction of union dues. Again, while it is commonplace for unions to negotiate payroll deduction, there is nothing anywhere (in private or public sector law) that states that it is an employers’ duty to be a union’s collection agency.
- Whether the unions will have to ‘re-certify’ every year to maintain representational status. Of all of Walker’s proposals, this seems to be one that could be considered a ‘throw away’ item in negotiations. If Walker’s other proposals get enacted, and union-represented employees feel that the union is worthless, they can initiate an election themselves every calendar under existing law [see Section 111.83(5)[h]] .
Given the ability of the unions and their co-conspirators on the Left to hijack the issue in Wisconsin over these last two weeks, there appears no way for a “win-win” compromise to be worked out. One side or the other will win. Either the unions and the Left, or taxpayers will prevail.
If the Left wins, all chances of reforming public-sector unions will be tossed aside by weak-kneed Republicans who will then be held hostage by temper-tantrum throwing Democrats (see Indiana for example). In addition, the Left has already painted the entire Republicans party with bulls eyes and has for years. Therefore, there is no reason for GOP governors like Scott Walker, Chris Christie and John Kasich to back down, which puts the Left in an untenable situation as well.
In the meantime, the disciples of Saul Alinsky will continue their prattle, attempting to convince America that the Battle of Wisconsin is something more than a fight over union power, politics and money…even though it’s not.

budgeting personal finances
photo: sea turtle
One aspect of homeownership that new and soon-to-be homeowners often ignore is the recurring and possibly steep cost of keeping that home in good shape.
According to a report by the University of Illinois Extension, homeowners need to budget 1% to 2% of the purchase price of their home, each year, to cover the costs of home maintenance and repairs. That’s $3,000 to $6,000 a year on a $300,000 home, and if it’s older or has appliances that will soon need to be replaced, you may need to set aside as much as twice that amount.
When it comes to the fine line between routine home maintenance costs and those that send you into a personal financial nightmare, the tipping point is your level of vigilance.
Here are some of the most common home maintenance issues and how you can keep a small problem from evolving into a hefty burden.
Water Drainage/Damage
While water damage is unavoidable if the foundation of your house is cracked, much of it is preventable. All you need to do is respond appropriately in weather conditions that are known to cause damage.
If you live in a cold climate, stay on top of the snowfall. David West, who owns Meadowview Construction, a remodeling and home renovations company in Georgetown, Mass., advises that homeowners clear the bottom few feet of snow from the roof, using a snow rake, as soon as possible after snowfall to prevent ice dams. These dams result in water creeping under the shingles, and eventually, leaking into your house. You’ll know them by that mysterious little drip on the ceiling or down around the window frames. On the surface, it may seem like a little burden that can be solved with the occasional bucket, but don’t be fooled. “It will cause some pretty serious water damage to the insulation and drywall,” says West.
Rain can also cause major issues that are avoidable. Kevin Leahy, the founder of a removable downspout system called “The Spout Off,” warns that non-working gutters aren’t just pointless, they’re harmful.
When rain is in the forecast, make certain that the gutter’s outlet (the hole in the gutter where the water flows out to the downspout) is clear of blockage. Failure to keep gutters working creates big costs like rotted boards, windowsills and water leaking into the foundation and basement.
Heating/Cooling Issues
The National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) reports that the most you can hope for out of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system is 25 years. Furnaces and air conditioning units generally sputter at the 15-year mark. But they’ll hardly last even that long without proper maintenance.
West advises that gas/oil boilers and furnaces be cleaned and maintained each year. This service will cost you about $200, but is the “single most important thing you can do to ensure long life and efficiency” of these systems. At the time of service, you can also ask the technician to leave a copy of your system’s efficiency rating. Armed with this knowledge, you can anticipate how much “life” is left in your furnace and plan your future home finances accordingly.
Sometimes, the most minor of tasks can help to save a bundle. Ian Patrick, of Los Angeles-based design firm Ian Patrick Interiors, says that many of his clients fail to do the most basic (and cheapest) maintenance of all: changing the filters in their HVAC units. These can be bought at any hardware store for a few dollars, and pay for themselves almost instantly in utility bill savings. “A dirty filter makes the unit work harder, so changing it is a very affordable way to make it run better and longer and saves you a service call,” advises Patrick.
If you have and use a fireplace, maintenance is also essential. You may be tempted to cut back on expenses by skipping yearly chimney maintenance. Preventative flue cleaning will generally cost $100 to $200. Ignoring this necessary maintenance could result in the need to reline the flue completely, costing you $3,500. Get the point?
Roof Damage
Conditions like heavy snow, heavy rain and high winds, can severely impact roof quality. The material of the roof is also a determinant. An asphalt shingle roof will last about 20 years. Slate, copper and concrete roofs can last about 50 years.
You could also unknowingly be causing roof damage. Gordon Smith, owner of home inspection, remodeling and contracting company HomeSmith LLC, warns that walking on the roof to install holiday decorations or to clean gutters could crack roof materials, creating leaks. Replacing damaged shingles can cost as much as $4 per square foot.
Smith also cautions against using attics for storage, which can cause the roof to sag, or collapse the ceiling. It could “potentially cost hundreds to thousands of dollars in structural repairs, not to mention repairing or replacing anything that was under the ceiling when it came down,” he says.
Windows
While wooden windows last about ten years longer than their less costly aluminum counterparts, they require monitoring, and can be very costly to replace. (Expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $1,000 or more, depending the age and size of the window frame).
Windows that are not shaded by a porch, tree or a bush really take a beating, especially in desert regions. This can result in water damage, rot, and even heat loss. “Combined with moisture, the wood expands and contracts with such frequency that it can compromise the stability of the entire unit,” says Patrick. Check regularly for peeling paint, cracks and chips in glazing, and have them repaired immediately to avoid a heftier bill down the road.

foreclosure auctions
More than 8,300 homeowners in Illinois received notices from lenders that they’d defaulted on their mortgages and had foreclosures proceedings initiated against them last month, according to a monthly foreclosure report issued Thursday by Web site RealtyTrac.
In addition to the 8,345 homeowners receiving default notices, another 1,908 received notice that their homes were scheduled for court-ordered auction and 2,910 homes in the state were repossessed by lenders.
The numbers, as expected, are low because foreclosure activity stalled during the fourth quarter of 2010 while mortgage servicers investigated the internal procedures for processing foreclosures and repossessing homes.
Nationally, all types of foreclosure notices were reported on 261,333 residential properties, a 1 percent increase from December but down 17 percent from January 2010.
“We’ve now seen three straight months with fewer than 300,000 properties receiving foreclosure filings, following 20 straight months where the total exceeded 300,000,” said James Saccacio, RealtyTrac CEO, in a statement. “Unfortunately, this is less a sign of a robust housing recovery and more a sign that lenders have become bogged down in reviewing procedures, resubmitting paperwork and formulating legal arguments related to accusations of improper foreclosure processing.”
Separately, Woodstock Institute reported Thursday that despite a 55.2 percent dip in foreclosure auctions between the third and fourth quarter due to the ‘robo-signing’ scandal and resulting investigations, completed foreclosure auctions in the Chicago area rose by 25.2 percent in 2010, to 30,981 properties. In 95 percent of those auctions, after which a homeowner typically is evicted, the homes became lender-owned.
In the six-county Chicago area, almost 80,000 default notices were issued in 2010. Condominiums accounted for 42.5 percent of all foreclosure activity last year.

How to Making Money
Beer Money. The team of Robert Roode and James Storm have been tagging together since 2008, and are currently enjoying their fourth reign as TNA World Tag Team Champions.
Each man came from a successful tag team to form perhaps the best tag team that TNA has ever seen. But where do they rank among the best of all time?
Despite fans’ many criticisms of TNA, including my own, it appears that historically the company does seem to care more about its tag team division than WWE does.
Roode’s former faction Team Canada, Storm’s former team America’s Most Wanted, along with Team 3D, LAX, The Voodoo Kin Mafia, The British Invasion, Generation Me, and The Motor City Machine Guns, have all vied for TNA tag team gold in recent years.
The division has thrived since the beginning of the company, and has been featured on TV and pay per view.
Then there’s WWE.
We all know that the current state of tag team wrestling in WWE is virtually non existent, with the championships currently held by Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov.
Bound together by necessity, which is a polite way of saying that WWE creative didn’t really have anything for either guy to do, Marella and Kozlov have actually looked pretty good since winning the straps.
Now, everyone calm down, I didn’t say they were The Road Warriors or anything.
But, for the WWE, we can’t really hope for much more than the tired old formula of two mix-matched guys thrown together for the sake of a lousy, half-hearted push. When it comes to their tag team division, it’s par for the course.
My, how things have changed in this business.
Once upon a time, the National Wrestling Alliance not only featured the greatest singles wrestlers in the sport, its tag team division was second to none with The Rock n Roll Express, The Road Warriors, The Russians, The Midnight Express, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew.
These guys perfected the art of tag team wrestling, and gave Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, and Ricky Steamboat a run for their money when it came to the best match on the card.
Man, where’s the Wayback Machine when you need it?
Of course, WWE hasn’t always neglected its tag team division.
Arguably the greatest era for tag team wrestling in WWE was 2000 to 2001. Three teams came together for a tag team war the likes of which had not been seen since the 1980’s NWA. Three teams redefined tag team wrestling in the business with three little words: tables, ladders, and chairs.
Edge and Christian. The Hardy Boyz. The Dudley Boyz. Three of the best tag teams of all time, blowing the roof off of arenas all over the country every week, each team pushing the other, bringing out the best in every man involved.
This was, without a doubt, a tag team renaissance, a great time for fans who yearned for a revival of the division.
These guys all understood their roles in the company, and fought to carve their names into wrestling history, next to the greatest teams ever. They also wanted to steal the show, and give fans something to remember.
Mission accomplished on both counts.
But with the focus shifted away from tag team wrestling in WWE, and TNA looking to grow as a company, the art of tag team wrestling now has a new pair of Rembrandts. Beer Money.
Yes, that was impossible to say without a smile.
The truth is, Beer Money works on a couple of different levels. One, because of Roode, who brings an intensity and ice-cold determination to his character and approach as a heel. Two, because of James Storm, because he’s funny as hell.
I love this guy. He is a riot, and every time he opens his mouth, or for that matter, just smiles at someone, it’s comedy gold. He makes the team, gives them a bad-boy edge that would make Jake Roberts jealous.
James Storm’s gimmick works so well because it’s so normal. He’s just a guy with a cowboy hat and dark glasses with a beer in his hand.
He looks less like a wrestler and more like the lead singer in a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band. He plays the part so well, and is more comfortable in his gimmick than perhaps anyone in the promotion.
For me, Storm would be a star in either company, on any level.
Fortunately for fans, right now he is one half of TNA’s biggest tag team, Beer Money. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy this team and their work in the ring.
Aside from Storm’s comedy, the guy can work, and he is a great fit with Roode. Beer Money, in a lot of ways, is a throwback to the classic heel teams of the NWA.
They have the tough streak of The Minnesota Wrecking Crew, the finesse of The Midnight Express, and the swagger of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard.
And much like these three teams had memorable feuds with The Rock n Roll Express, Beer Money has had a momentous run against The Motor City Machine Guns.
The pace and tempo of the Guns, matched up against the fierce ground and pound of Beer Money, have made for some great moments in TNA. Both teams are working hard to own the night, every time they set foot in the ring.
That’s what tag team wrestling is all about, and I for one am glad to see it happening again. The only question I have is, how long will Beer Money stay together, before TNA creative, such as it is, decides to split them up?
It would be a shame if their run as one of the best teams in the company lasts only three years. Beer Money deserves to have a legacy, an opportunity to be considered among the all-time greats. But perhaps that is not meant to happen in TNA?
Considering that WWE gave up on its tag team division years ago, the chances of seeing Storm and Roode work for Vince appear to be slim to none.
But, if given a chance, I have to believe that not only would Beer Money make the best of it, they would do what they continue to do every week in TNA: steal the show.
It’s an interesting bit of speculation, when it comes to debating Beer Money’s place in tag team history. Perhaps it’s too soon for that. Perhaps as Storm and Roode continue to build their reputation week in and week out, we should just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Let the renaissance begin…again.
Have you ever made a large cash withdrawal from a banking machine only to wonder a few days later where all the money went? Think for a moment: Where did the last $100 you spent go? Stop for a minute and write it down. Chances are you can account for most of it, but there may be five, ten, or twenty dollars missing from your list.
Why You Should Track Your Spending
What does it cost you to live each month? Some people under-estimate their expenses because they forget the things that don’t occur every month.
- Did you include your gym costs even though you pay them once a year?
- How about your house or car insurance?
- Did you include the cost of your haircuts, your contact lenses, or your vacation?
- Do you pay someone to shovel your snow, clean your windows and carpets or do your taxes?
- What about your vet bills, the flowers for your garden or patio, your best-friend’s birthday present?
Some people under-estimate their expenses because they actually don’t know how much they’re spending on things like take-out, clothes, and coffee. Over and over when I show folks how much money they’re spending on the non-essentials of life, they’re gob-smacked. Well, the only way to make a budget that will work is to know what you have been spending so you get some sense of what you’re going to have to change.
One of the best ways to gain a perspective on your spending habits is to keep a log of everything you spend, each time you do a transaction. The idea is to figure out where you’re spending all those dimes that seem to go missing each month. It’s also about learning more about yourself and where your place your priorities. This isn’t about shame, blame, or deprivation. You don’t have to change anything you don’t want to change. But you should at least know. With a spending log, you’ll have a clear picture of what you’re getting for your money.
When you do all your money management in your head, it’s very easy to forget things — sometimes important things — that will have an impact on your overall financial life. You’re always guessing how much you have left. And you shouldn’t really be surprised when your account is overdrawn. After all, if you don’t know how much you have, how can you know how much you can spend?
If you don’t believe you can find the time to maintain your budget — collecting receipts, entering details onto your budget, adding it all up and balancing it out — think about the time you have to spend solving the problems that arise from not taking care of the details. And think about all the money you waste on overdraft fees, interest costs, and ATM transactions. You’ll have to decide whether you’d rather live life peacefully, or continue waking to the specter of financial worry rattling his chains at the foot of your bed.

So many people have the dream of making money working from home. The reasons vary. For some it is more of a necessity while for others it's more of a want.
A former housewife may find herself a newly single Mother and the job she landed in a hurry barely covers the rent and utilities. A second income is must to survive and will determine whether she and the kids have to move in and crowd in a room with her Mother or whether they can stay in their own place.
Other people simply hate a boring routine of going into work everyday and working to make someone else rich. They don't need to work from home but they have a need deep inside themselves to do their own thing and be their own boss and not be stuck in a boring routine everyday.
Some people may find themselves laid off from good jobs in our uncertain economy, some people want to save up for that vacation or new car, some have a big pile of debt to pay off, some working Mother's want to stay home with their kids but can't afford to not have an income and the list goes on and on.
The problem most every one faces who wants to start working from home is how to start? The truth is, it is overwhelming. It will usually take a lot of searching to find out what is right for you.
The most common trap people face when starting is falling for scams and hype. The hype is everywhere. Do an internet search on make money from home and there's no shortage of websites and hype to tell you exactly what to do. There are infomercials all over TV. If John Doe can make thousands of dollars working a few days a month why can't you?
There are all sorts of programs that promise easy and quick money if you just sign up for their program for a certain amount of money. There are some opportunities which you have no clue what you are supposed to do, but whatever it is, you are sure to make a ton of money. There's no shortage of testimonials of common everyday people who are now living a life of luxury. You get excited and imagine all your money worries are over and you are living in a nice beach house.
The truth is, these so called opportunities full of hype are just people getting rich off of the hopes and dreams millions of people have to work from home. Don't fall for it.
If you really want to make money from home, the first thing to do is realize it will actually take time, work, and investment and don't fall for anything that promises easy money or never, ever sign up for anything where you don't know exactly what you will be doing first.
The hardest part of being your own boss may be deciding what to do. There's so much out there to choose from and it will most likely take a lot of searching to find what is right for you.
What works for one person may not work for another. Several factors determine what will work or not. Two of the most common factors are location and personality. What works in one area doesn't mean it will work in another. The only way to find out if something will work in your area is to try. Some areas may be oversaturated with the business you are interested in and will not do good. Another area will not have this business available and will do well. You may be highly successful with a certain business in one area, but in another, you may do terrible. That's just the way it is. Know when to fold 'em. If you have put your very best effort into a business, if you have advertised and gotten your name out there and promoted yourself like crazy, but you still can't get customers or make a profit, then you either have to move or try something else. It's better just to get out than to keep losing money every month. It will be disappointing, but take it as a learning experience.
Another factor is personality. Different people have different strengths, weaknesses and passions. What works for Tina may not work for Jodie. Some people are outgoing natural sales people while others are shy. Different people have different skills and interests and should use those when looking for a business to start.
Never start something just because it worked for your friend unless you are genuinely interested in it. If you are not interested in doing something, don't do it. Why work a business you hate? You will be happier and make more money if you do something you enjoy.
Don't put everything you have into starting your own business. Some businesses fail. Actually, a lot do unfortunately. Try testing it out before you really go all out and see what the response is and do your research. Figure out your costs. How much will it cost to advertise? How much will supplies and anything else you need cost? Check out your competition.
Some people can get started right away into a business with a little investment and start making money right away. Some people. This is the exception and not the rule. Some people can join a direct sales company for little or no cost, buy a bunch of catalogs, have home parties and pass them out to everyone and start seeing good profits right away.
Whatever you decide to do, it will definitely take work. You can't just pay a fee and start making a large amount of money right away for doing almost nothing no matter what those people on TV say.
After you know what you want to do, it will take time and a lot of work to get your name out there and to get business and start making profits. If you can get a loyal customer base, you can find that working from home can be very profitable and lucrative.
What it will cost to work from home depends on several factors. There are some opportunities you can start for a very nominal fee and others will require quite a large investment.
If you decide to join a direct sales company, where you get paid a percentage of what you sell and also make a percentage off of people you recruit in the business, there are some companies where it is completely free to join. Many however require you buy a starter kit which will contain products and some business supplies. Even if you find a company that is free to join, you still will have to invest money into catalogs, business cards, and advertising.
If you want to offer your own service, your investment will be the products/equipment required as well as the basics of advertising. Some businesses will require that you be licensed and insured. Some businesses to start from scratch are your own craft business, cleaning business, baby newspaper business, pet sitting, computer repair, graphic design, home daycare, sewing/alterations, and tutoring.
An exclusively online business is great for shy people who are uncomfortable selling, but this is a whole different ball park. Profits usually come quicker and easier in the real world than online. If you want an exclusive online business, that will require a lot of research. You will need to spend hours and hours educating yourself to avoid costly mistakes and disappointment.
Don't get me wrong, if you can learn how to do it, that's great. Nothing beats waking up in the morning and finding out you just made money while you were sleeping. But you will need a theme to build a website on that isn't oversaturated, something to make it stand out, and most importantly you have to learn how to get traffic. Without traffic, your website will be worthless. Remember you will have fierce competition so that's why educating yourself is important.
Once you know what you want to do, you will have to either build yourself a website or have it built for you (which is usually expensive). Then you will have to find a host and pay for hosting. And last, you will need to do a lot of marketing to drive traffic and hopefully customers to your site.
Many people who really need money, desperately, look to making money from home. They may invest money they can't afford thinking they will make it back plus a lot of profit, just to find themselves more broke and disappointed. They probably just fell for some hype and wrongly thought it would be quick and easy to make money.
If you are desperate for money, or are looking to make money fast, then it's not a good time to actually start your own business. If you are unemployed then you should spend your time looking for a regular job as disappointing as this sounds, so you can have a steady paycheck, then try working from home on the side. For fast money, there are ways you can still make some money from home.
You can have a yard sale. If you enjoy children, put out ads and flyers offering to watch children in your home. There is always a big demand for childcare. If you have furniture or any bigger items you don't need, sell them. Put out flyers or ads in a local (small) paper offering services you can provide such as house cleaning, pet sitting, ironing, sewing, cooking, painting, or handy man jobs. Ads like these usually work best in small town papers and are cheaper but don't do so well and are more expensive in big city areas.
Or, if you are a good salesperson and know a lot of people, a direct sales business is probably a fast way to make money. Find a company that offers a good percentage, find a company that is free to join or offers a plan where you can get started for free and buy the required kit later. Then buy some catalogs and sell away to everyone you can. This way, your only cost will be the catalogs and you can make a profit on the very first day. This of course is for an outgoing person who is good at selling.
If you have a green thumb, grow flowers, herbs and plants and then sell them. If you are good at crafts, sewing, or knitting, make and sell your crafts. You can do this through newspaper ads, flyers, word of mouth, and online at www.etsy.com.
Online, you can set up a blog for free and put Google Adsense on the blog. Everytime someone clicks on an ad, you get paid. The hard part about this is actually getting traffic to your blog. You can do it, but it does take time and effort.
If you enjoy writing you can also write articles for Associated Content, (like I'm doing now). If you article is accepted, you get paid. What you get depends on what they decide your article is worth.
You can also be a freelance writer. There is a great need for writers with the explosion of websites and people looking for original website content for better search engine rankings. Be prepared for fierce competition however and be prepared to work for low amounts in the beginning until you get established.
Whatever you decide to go with, the truth is there is no secret to getting rich from home. There are two ways to really make an income from home. Good old fashioned hard work and effort or scamming people with a get rich quick scheme. So I am sorry to disappoint anyone who thought they could learn how to start making a thousand dollars a week instantly working only a few hours. But if you have a valid credit card, there are several guys willing to sell you ebooks promising some sort of secret to getting rich easily and quickly.
The moral of the story is, it takes time, effort and hard work to make a decent income from home. It's not easy and it doesn't happen overnight regardless of the hype that's out there. If you aren't willing to work hard at it, it probably won't happen. You need to have determination to make it work and you have to keep at it. You reap what you sow and if you put the time and work into it, you will be rewarded once it pays off.

What to do with those coupons that you impulsively bought off of Groupon, Living Social, Ideeli, or any of the many other discounted ‘deal of the day’ sites? Sell ‘em!
That’s right, there’s a site for everything these days, and selling coupons, while initially relegated to online bulletin board sites, such as Craig’s List, have established their own re-sale sites and are open for business.
In case you’re not in the know about these daily deal sites, they provide a great, affordable way to discover what a city has to offer by selling heavily discounted deals for services and products in your area or online - With deals like Living Social’s Amazon price buster, offering a $20 gift card for $10 and surpassing one million gift cards sold, there are sure to be some “miss-buys.” You thought you wanted, or needed it, but in the end it was something you were never going to use.
After doing a little investigation, I came up with several names of deal for “resale” businesses, with a few emerging as the leaders of the pack. DealsGoRound, CoupRecoup, and Lifesta are suddenly making an impact in the market.
Yael Gavish, co-founder of Lifesta, says she saw a need for a forum focused on the aftermarket. She had a friend visiting her in New York, who had purchased a Groupon certificate. Unfortunately, when the friend arrived, they discovered the restaurant was closed for renovations. Her friend was out the money, but the idea was created.
"People buy daily deals and they all work on the impulse buy," explains Yael Gavish of Lifesta.com. "So you think you're definitely going to this, but then, it turns out that 20-40 percent of these daily deals are never really used." Their site has seen a monthly growth of 50 percent, mainly through word of mouth.
A great solution for “buyers remorse” if I ever saw one!

While there are a lot of GPT (Get-Paid-To) sites on the web that pay you money to fill out surveys and complete offers, the best site for earning money online is CashCrate.
What is CashCrate?
CashCrate is a GPT (Get-Paid-To) site that allows you to earn money in multiple ways. It has a high paying referral program, and is regarded as one of the best GPT sites on the internet. It is free to join. It is advertised as worldwide, but from what I've heard, most of the offers are for U.S. only.
How Do You Earn Money on CashCrate?
You earn money on CashCrate by completing offers and taking surveys. CashCrate offers a daily survey that pays $0.80. There are many free offers and surveys that are simple to complete. By "free offer" I mean you complete forms and give your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, etc. in exchange for money.
There are also credit card offers and offers that require shipping and handling fees. Some CashCraters love these offers because they pay substantially more. I avoid them because I don't like giving my credit card out for a trial membership that I have to remember to cancel later (which is what most of the offers tend to be).
I stick with the absolutely free offers and have done pretty well so far.
How Much Can You Earn on CashCrate?
The free offers tend to pay between $.50 - $1.00. The daily survey pays $0.80. The credit card offers tend to pay much more - like $20. The pay varies, and each offer is clearly listed with it's pay amount. I easily made $20.56 in two weeks doing free offers with no referrals. I was basically testing the system and I only put in a few hours of work to achieve this amount. If you can put more time in it, you can easily earn a lot more! Some CashCraters make hundreds a month.
Does CashCrate Have a Referral Program?
Yes! CashCrate has one of the best paying GPT referral programs around. You get $3.00 for all first level referrals (that's the people that sign up using your referral link) that earn $10.00. You then get 20% of everything they earn. You also get 10% of everything your second lever referrals make (that's the people the first level referrals sign up). After you get 50 referrals, the percentages increase (25%/10%). Get 50 more and they increase again!
How Long Does it Take to Get Credited Money for an Offer on CashCrate?
Most free offers credit to your account with in minutes. Some take a day. I have not completed any credit card offers, but from what I'm told, it takes up to a week (they have to charge the card and clear everything before crediting you with the money).
When/How Does CashCrate Pay You?
CashCrate pays once a month by old-fashioned check through the mail. They pay mid-month for the previous month's earnings. For example, I will get a check mailed to me in mid-June for the money I earned in May. You must make $10 before they send you a check. If you don't make $10 in one month, they will roll it over to the next month. But making $10 with CashCrate is easy!
CashCrate Tips:
Get a free e-mail address especially for CashCrate offers. When you fill out offers/surveys and give them your e-mail address, you will get spam. Get a free hotmail or gmail account. Make sure you check the account though - some offers require you to click a link in a confirmation e-mail to get paid.
Get a free phone number especially for online offers. Your phone number will also get spammed. And most of the offers require a valid phone number. Go to www.privatephone.com and get a free phone number. You will get voicemail on the web. You can choose if you want to listen to it or not. NOTE: Apparently some offers won't go through with a phone number from www.privatephone.com. Look on the CashCrate forum for information.
Read the CashCrate Forums. There is a lot of information on the CashCrate forums from members who are earning and newbies who have questions. It is a very active forum and you can learn a lot just by reading.
